XXXIX Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery

This was a unit of Britain’s pre-war regular army. It is also sometimes shown as 39 Brigade RFA.

History

  • This brigade was originally comprised of numbers 46, 51 and 54 Batteries RFA and the Brigade Ammunition Column. It was placed under command of the 1st Division and went to France with it in August 1914.
    • 30 (Howitzer) Battery joined from 43 (Howitzer) Brigade of the same division, on 22 May 1916.
