I have known about this for some time, but now it is being broadcast I can jump around a bit and say … fame at last! My name is up in lights at the BBC!
For many years I have carried out military history research for the production company Wall to Wall, which makes the excellent long-running series “Who do you think you are?” On occasion thay have also contacted me in relation to other productions and in this case it is “A house through time“, presented by Dr David Olusaga.
The edition being broadcast at present is series 6, and it concerns a house, comprising two dwellings, at 20 and 22 Calton Hill in Edinburgh, Scotland. It runs from when the house was first built in the 1760s, right through to the present day, exploring the ups and downs of the people who lived in it, and how the house itself developed over time.
Part 3 covered the period that included the Great War, and my part was to reseach those individuals from the house who took part in the conflict. And most interesting it was too. I am gratified to see how much the producers used and thank them for naming me.

The entire series can be viewed via BBC iPlayer at time of writing.
Part 4 includes a story from the Second World War, of a soldier wounded in the latter stages of the final offensive in Western Europe, and judging from the credits some if not all of the research of that story was carried out by Paul Reed.
