Edgehill was the British name given to a railway siding on the Albert to Longeau (Amiens) line, situated south of Albert.

Imperial war Museum photograph Q1319, captioned “Hospital nurse, possibly of Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service (QAIMNS), in conversation with a wounded British soldier at Dernancourt, September 1916.” This is likely to be Edgehill. Rail evacuations from this station began on 16 September 1916 and 56th Casualty Clearing Station was located nearby.

In the overlay onto a present-day map shown below, I have highlighted the locations of Edgehill, Meaulte Junction and G Dump. The latter now lies on the outskirts of the expanded town of Albert.

Both maps are screenshots when using the Linesman mapping product running on Memory-Map. With thanks to both. Below, the Google Maps camera stands on the D52 looking eastwards. Edgehill was in the field on the left. Note the railway line, still running from Albert to Longeau today, on the right.
